Curated by The League of Imaginary Scientists (Apexart Franchise winners)

Urban Habitat Lab was presented as a mobile, solar- and human-powered research unit that invited participants to listen to urban ecologies; specifically trees, through amplified acoustic interfaces. Moving through neighbourhoods in Northeast Los Angeles, the project offered street-goers an opportunity to attune to the often-unheard sonic life of the city’s diminishing natural environments. The work positioned listening as a form of citizen-led environmental research, foregrounding sensory experience, participation, and local knowledge as valid modes of ecological inquiry.
