I work in ground mineral pigments and walnut oil on stretched or suspended canvas, panel, and acrylic on oversized paper. Compositions are improvised. Sizes vary from 24” - 96”+
I began as a painter in 2001, trained in the discipline of surface, gesture, and colour before my practice grew outward into video, sound, media arts, social practice, and installation. Painting has always remained a quiet through-line as a place where ideas first take shape, where thinking becomes embodied, and where I return to steady my hand and attention.
Though much of my early work has been lost through moves, transitions, and the shifting terrain of my career, painting continues as a behind-the-scenes practice that anchors my larger multidisciplinary world. I approach each canvas as a site of attunement and inquiry, a way to sense through colour and form what later emerges in my ecological, sonic, and relational projects. I will continue to paint, as a private laboratory, a companion practice, and a place of ongoing discovery.
